Free DualSense Test
PS5 Controller Test
Test a PS5 DualSense controller online and check browser-reported input from Cross, Circle, Square, Triangle, L1, R1, L2, R2, the D-pad and both analogue sticks.
Test Your PS5 Controller Online
Connect a DualSense or compatible controller, press a button so the browser can expose it and use the live tester to check the controls reported through the Gamepad API.
- Face buttons
- Cross, Circle, Square and Triangle.
- Bumpers
- L1 and R1.
- Triggers
- L2 and R2 analogue values when exposed.
- D-pad
- Up, down, left and right.
- Analogue sticks
- Left and right X/Y axes plus stick-click inputs.
How to Use the PS5 Controller Test
- Connect your DualSense by USB or supported Bluetooth.
- Press a controller button so the browser can expose it.
- Select the controller if more than one is connected.
- Test Cross, Circle, Square, Triangle, bumpers, triggers and D-pad directions.
- Move both analogue sticks and release them to centre.
- Compare the live browser indicators with the physical controls.
What This DualSense Test Checks
With a standard browser mapping, the tester can show face buttons, bumpers, analogue triggers, D-pad directions, stick clicks and both analogue-stick axes. Extra DualSense inputs can vary by browser and operating system.
PS5 Controller Controls You Can Check
Cross, Circle, Square and Triangle
Check each face button separately.
L1 and R1
Check the left and right bumpers.
L2 and R2
View analogue trigger values when exposed.
D-pad
Check all four directions.
Left Stick
View horizontal and vertical movement.
Right Stick
View horizontal and vertical movement.
Common PS5 Controller Input Mapping
| PS5 control | Common standard input | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Cross / Circle / Square / Triangle | Buttons 0–3 | Each face button activates independently. |
| L1 / R1 | Buttons 4–5 | Each bumper registers when pressed. |
| L2 / R2 | Buttons 6–7 | Analogue values rise as triggers are pressed. |
| Create / Options | Buttons 8–9 | Centre controls register separately. |
| L3 / R3 | Buttons 10–11 | Stick-click buttons register. |
| D-pad | Buttons 12–15 | All four directions can be checked. |
| PS | Button 16 when exposed | System buttons can be reserved. |
| Touchpad click | Extra button when exposed | Availability is not guaranteed. |
| Left stick | Axes 0–1 | Horizontal and vertical movement. |
| Right stick | Axes 2–3 | Horizontal and vertical movement. |
USB vs Bluetooth DualSense Testing
A DualSense can be exposed differently over USB and Bluetooth. Browser, operating-system and driver support affect available inputs. If wireless behaviour is inconsistent, compare a wired USB connection.
DualSense Browser Limitations
The standard Gamepad API does not guarantee touch coordinates, microphone-mute state, adaptive-trigger control or advanced DualSense haptics. A browser test confirms only what the browser receives during the current session.
What a Good PS5 Controller Test Looks Like
Each physical control should activate the matching browser indicator consistently. Analogue triggers should change smoothly when exposed, and both sticks should move through their expected range before returning close to centre.
PS5 Controller Test Troubleshooting
- Press a controller button. Some browsers keep gamepads hidden until interaction.
- Reconnect and refresh. Reconnect the DualSense and rescan.
- Compare USB and Bluetooth. A wired connection can help isolate wireless behaviour.
- Try another browser or device. Browser and OS support can differ.
Controller Input Privacy
The live button and axis readings used by this tester are processed temporarily in your browser. The tool does not upload a recording of your controller inputs.
PS5 Controller Test Frequently Asked Questions
What is a PS5 controller test?
A PS5 controller test checks whether a compatible browser can detect DualSense button, trigger, D-pad and analogue-stick input through the Gamepad API.
Does this work with a PS5 DualSense controller?
Yes when the DualSense is recognised by your operating system and exposed to the browser. USB and Bluetooth behaviour can vary by browser and platform.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The tester runs in a compatible web browser and does not require a separate Device Tests application.
Can I test a DualSense controller over Bluetooth?
Yes when your device, operating system and browser expose the controller through Bluetooth. USB is useful as a comparison if wireless behaviour looks inconsistent.
What do Cross, Circle, Square and Triangle show?
They show whether the browser reports those standard face-button inputs as pressed and display the analogue value where available.
Can I test L2 and R2 trigger pressure?
With a standard gamepad mapping, L2 and R2 are commonly exposed as analogue button values from zero to one. The tester displays the browser-reported value.
Can I test both analogue sticks?
Yes. The page shows live X and Y axis values and a visual position indicator for both the left and right sticks.
Can this test detect stick drift?
It can show whether a stick reports movement while untouched, but the dedicated Stick Drift Test is better for a focused drift check.
Can I test the DualSense touchpad?
The touchpad click may appear as an extra gamepad button on some browser and operating-system combinations. Standard browser Gamepad APIs do not consistently expose touch coordinates.
Can I test the PS button?
Sometimes, but system buttons may be reserved or hidden by the operating system or browser, so the PS button is not guaranteed to be available to webpages.
Can I test the microphone mute button?
Not reliably through the standard browser Gamepad API. That control may be handled by the operating system or controller firmware instead of being exposed as a normal webpage button.
Do adaptive triggers work in this browser test?
The page can read trigger input values when they are exposed, but browser support for controlling DualSense adaptive-trigger resistance is not standard and is not assumed by this test.
Does the vibration test work with DualSense?
Only when the browser exposes a supported gamepad vibration actuator. Advanced DualSense haptics are not guaranteed through the standard browser gamepad interface.
Why are my buttons mapped differently?
Non-standard mappings, drivers, firmware, operating systems and browsers can expose different button or axis indexes. The page labels are based on the common standard gamepad mapping.
Why does the page say no controller detected?
Connect the controller, press a button, confirm the operating system can see it and refresh the controller list. Some browsers keep gamepads hidden until the user interacts with them.
Does Device Tests store my controller inputs?
The live button and axis readings are processed temporarily in your browser by this tool and are not uploaded as controller-input recordings.
Can a successful test prove my DualSense is fault-free?
No. A browser test confirms what the browser receives during that session. It cannot inspect every internal hardware, firmware, battery, radio or intermittent fault.
What should I test next?
Use the Controller Deadzone Test for analogue-stick thresholds, the Stick Drift Test for unwanted centre movement or the Gamepad Test for a general controller check.
