Device Check Report
The live checklist tracks completion, passed tests, issues found and the last update time. You can also add notes and copy the report when needed.
Your Checklist Stays in This Browser
Manual results and notes are stored locally on this device. Individual camera and microphone tests request permission only when you open and start those tools.
How to Complete the Device Check
- Run the automatic browser capability scan.
- Open the first specialist test.
- Follow its instructions and inspect the result.
- Return here and mark the test Passed or Issue.
- Repeat until every device has been checked.
- Copy the final report if you need to share the results.
Why Tests Open Separately
Each specialist tool needs a different interaction. Microphone and webcam tests require permission, while keyboard, mouse and display tests need focused input or fullscreen controls.
Keeping the tools separate makes each result clearer while this page gives you one progress checklist and final report.
What the Complete Device Check Tests
This guided device checker brings together the most important browser-based hardware tests in one place. Use it to examine audio, video, controls and display performance without installing diagnostic software.
Microphone and Recording
Check whether the browser can detect microphone input, display changing volume levels and create a short recording for playback. This helps identify muted inputs, incorrect device selection, very low gain, distortion and permission problems.
Speakers and Headphones
Test left, right and combined audio channels, compare stereo balance and listen for missing sound, crackling, distortion or an incorrectly connected output device.
Webcam and Camera Resolution
Inspect the live camera image, focus, exposure and framing, then test whether the selected webcam can provide common video modes from 480p through 4K.
Keyboard and Mouse
Confirm that physical keys, modifier combinations, mouse buttons, scrolling, double-clicking and dragging are detected correctly by the browser.
Gamepad and Controller
Check connected controller buttons, analogue sticks, triggers and browser gamepad support. This can reveal unresponsive controls, input drift and connection issues.
Screen and Display
Review screen resolution, browser viewport and pixel ratio, then inspect full-screen colour patterns for dead, stuck or inconsistent pixels.
When a Complete Hardware Check Is Useful
A full browser device test is useful whenever you need a quick, repeatable overview before using, buying, selling or troubleshooting a computer and its accessories.
Before a video call or interview
Confirm that the microphone, speakers, headphones and webcam work before an important meeting, online interview, lesson or remote appointment.
After setting up a new device
Run the checklist after connecting a new computer, monitor, webcam, headset, keyboard, mouse or controller.
Before buying or selling used hardware
Record which components passed and which need attention when assessing a second-hand laptop, desktop or peripheral.
When several problems appear together
Use the quick scan and individual tests to separate a browser-permission issue from an accessory, driver, connection or hardware fault.
What the Quick Capability Scan Checks
The automatic scan checks whether the current browser exposes the secure-context, media, audio, gamepad, fullscreen and clipboard capabilities used by the specialist tests.
A capability marked Available means the browser supports the required interface. It does not confirm that a particular microphone, camera, speaker, controller or display is physically working.
What a Browser Device Test Cannot Confirm
Browser diagnostics cannot inspect internal circuitry, battery condition, thermal sensors, storage health, memory errors or manufacturer firmware. They also cannot prove that an intermittent problem will never return.
When a result remains inconsistent after repeating the test, check operating-system settings, drivers and manufacturer diagnostics before deciding that the hardware has failed.
What Complete Device Check Results Mean
A passed result means the device responded normally during the browser test. An issue result means something was missing, distorted, inconsistent or unavailable and needs further checking.
Browser tests help isolate common problems but cannot replace manufacturer diagnostics for intermittent, driver-level or internal hardware faults.
Several Tests Showing Issues?
Use these checks before assuming that several hardware components have failed at the same time.
Restart the device
A restart can release cameras, microphones and audio devices held by other applications.
Check browser permissions
Review site permissions for the camera and microphone, then reload the relevant test page.
Reconnect accessories
Reconnect USB devices and pair Bluetooth accessories again before repeating the tests.
Try another browser
A current alternative browser can help separate browser compatibility from a hardware problem.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the complete device check free?
Yes. Every test is free and does not require an account, payment or software installation.
What does the complete device check test?
The checklist covers microphone input, speakers, headphones, webcam image, camera resolution, keyboard input, mouse controls, gamepad input, screen resolution and dead pixels.
Does the quick scan test my actual hardware?
No. The quick scan checks whether the browser supports the technologies required by the specialist tools. The individual test pages perform the interactive hardware checks.
Are my complete device check results uploaded?
No. Checklist results and notes are stored locally in the current browser using local storage. They are not included in the copied report unless you choose to copy it.
Why do I have to mark tests manually?
Several results require human judgement. Only you can decide whether sound is clear, stereo balance is correct, a camera image is sharp or a display contains a visible dead pixel.
Can I use the complete device check on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Camera, microphone, speaker, headphone and display tests can work on supported mobile browsers. Keyboard, mouse and gamepad checks require the relevant connected accessories.
Can this prove that hardware is definitely faulty?
No. It is a browser-based diagnostic guide. A failed result can also be caused by permissions, device selection, operating-system settings, drivers, cables, hubs, Bluetooth pairing or another application.
Why does a device work in one browser but not another?
Browsers can differ in permission handling, media-device support, fullscreen behaviour and gamepad reporting. Testing in another current browser can help identify a compatibility issue.
Why is my camera or microphone unavailable?
Check the browser site permissions, operating-system privacy settings and selected input device. Close other applications that may already be using the camera or microphone, then reload the test.
Will the checklist remember my progress?
Yes. Test statuses and notes are saved locally in the current browser on this device until you reset them or clear the browser's stored site data.
Can I share the device check results?
Yes. Use Copy report to place the recorded test statuses, notes and update time on the clipboard, then paste the report into a message, support request or document.
Should I run the tests with accessories connected?
Yes. Connect and select the exact headset, webcam, keyboard, mouse, monitor or controller you want to assess before opening its specialist test.
What should I do if several tests fail?
Restart the device, reconnect accessories, check browser and system permissions, close competing applications and repeat the tests in another current browser.
Does the complete device check install anything?
No. The checklist and specialist tests run through supported browser APIs and do not require a downloadable program, extension or account.
