One focused browser check
Video Call Test
Check your camera, microphone and speakers before a meeting or interview. See what your browser receives, listen to a short recording and get practical next steps.
No account or download. Media stays in this tab. Access starts with your click.
Check your setup
Choose a camera and microphone, then press Start camera & microphone check. Device names may appear after you allow access. Changing a selection stops and resets the current check.
Your browser may ask for camera and microphone access separately. Each check can succeed independently. You can stop the check while a permission request is still waiting.
Camera picture
The local preview shows the video frames received by this browser and their dimensions. Inspect the picture and confirm whether its framing and clarity are suitable. A received picture does not establish picture quality automatically.
Camera missing, blocked or black? Open the detailed webcam test.
Microphone input
Speak a few words and watch the live input level. Activity can include background noise. This meter does not judge speech clarity or measure calibrated sound pressure.
Optionally record up to five seconds, then play the recording to hear yourself. Confirm whether your voice sounds clear or needs attention. Recording is optional and depends on browser support.
Microphone not working? Open the detailed microphone test.
Speakers or headphones
Set your output volume to a comfortable level, then play a short tone. The test uses your current system audio output. Confirm whether you heard it clearly; the browser cannot confirm that you heard sound.
The microphone meter pauses while this page plays audio. Recording and test sounds cannot run together.
Check stereo channels in the speaker test.
Your browser check
Review the browser observations and your own confirmations separately. Unchecked items remain unconfirmed. The summary gives practical next checks and can be copied as text.
A successful check describes this browser session. Your meeting app may use different devices, permissions or settings. This test does not measure your internet connection or guarantee that a call will work.
How to use the Video Call Test
- Start and allow access. Choose the camera and microphone you intend to use. If names are hidden, start with the system defaults and select again after permission.
- Look, speak and listen. Confirm the picture looks right, watch the microphone input and optionally play back a short recording. Play the speaker tone separately.
- Review the evidence. Read the browser observations and your own confirmations. Follow the relevant help link for anything missing or unclear.
What the results mean
A received picture shows that this browser obtained video frames. Microphone activity shows changing audio input, which can include ambient noise. Picture and voice quality, and whether you heard the tone, remain your observations.
Repeat the check with the same headset and camera you plan to use. If the meeting app behaves differently, check its selected devices and permissions too.
Your media stays in this tab
This tool does not upload your camera picture, microphone audio or recording. A recording is created only when you choose Record and is kept temporarily in this tab. Delete it or reset the check to remove it.
Leaving or hiding the page stops this tool’s devices and audio and deletes the local clip. A copied summary contains text observations and device labels, never the recording.
Video Call Test questions
Will this prove that Zoom, Teams or Google Meet will work?
No. It checks browser access and your observations here. Other apps have their own permissions, device choices and processing, and this page does not test the network path used by your call.
Why are camera or microphone names missing?
Browsers can hide device names until access is allowed. System default is a valid first choice. An empty or limited list before permission does not establish that hardware is missing.
Why does the microphone meter show activity when I am quiet?
The microphone can receive room noise or audio processing. Activity is not proof of intelligible speech. Use the optional recording and listen carefully before confirming voice quality.
What if one device is blocked?
Camera and microphone are checked independently, so the other check can still work. Review browser permissions, the operating-system privacy settings and any app that may already be using the device.
Why is recording unavailable?
Recording requires a browser that supports MediaRecorder and a working microphone stream. You can still use the camera, microphone meter where supported, and speaker check if optional recording is unavailable.
Can this diagnose broken hardware?
No. A missing or inconsistent result can also involve permissions, browser support, settings, cables or another app. These observations help narrow down the next check; they are not a hardware-health certificate.
