Joy-Con 2 & Pro Controller Tester

Nintendo Switch 2 Controller Test

Test Nintendo Switch 2 controller inputs online with a live Joy-Con 2 and Switch 2 Pro Controller tester. Check buttons, D-pad directions, analogue sticks and browser-exposed extra controls with no download.

Nintendo Switch 2 Controller Tester

This browser-based controller tester reads gamepad state exposed through the Gamepad API. It provides Nintendo-style labels for common positional controls and a raw-input view for extra or non-standard button mappings.

Face buttons
Check B, A, Y and X using standard positional mapping.
Shoulder and trigger controls
Check L, R, ZL and ZR where exposed.
D-pad
Check up, down, left and right directional input.
Analogue sticks
View live left and right X/Y axis movement and centre position.
Extra controls
Inspect raw browser button indexes for controls such as C, Capture, HOME, GL or GR when exposed.

How to Use the Switch 2 Controller Test

  1. Pair or connect Joy-Con 2, a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller or another compatible gamepad to the device running your browser.
  2. Press a controller button so the browser can expose the gamepad.
  3. Select the controller if more than one is detected.
  4. Test face, shoulder, trigger and D-pad controls.
  5. Move both analogue sticks through their range and release them to centre.
  6. Use the raw-button panel if the labelled mapping differs from your controller.

What This Joy-Con 2 & Pro Controller Test Checks

The page checks browser-exposed gamepad buttons and analogue axes. It also shows every additional button index the browser makes available. Nintendo-specific extras are not assumed to use fixed browser mappings.

Switch 2 Controls You Can Check

B, A, Y and X

Check the four Nintendo-style face-button positions.

L, R, ZL and ZR

Check shoulder and trigger positions where the browser exposes them.

D-pad

Check directional up, down, left and right.

Left Stick

View horizontal and vertical analogue movement and centre position.

Right Stick

View the second analogue stick's horizontal and vertical movement.

Extra Buttons

Inspect raw browser indexes for C, Capture, HOME, GL, GR or other controls when exposed.

Nintendo Switch 2 Controller Mapping Guide

The Gamepad API standard mapping is positional rather than Nintendo-specific. When a browser reports a standard mapping, these indexes commonly represent the following positions.

Nintendo-style controlCommon standard indexNotes
B / A / Y / XButtons 0–3South, east, west and north face-button positions.
L / RButtons 4–5Left and right shoulder positions.
ZL / ZRButtons 6–7Trigger positions; values depend on browser mapping.
− / +Buttons 8–9Common select/back and start/forward positions.
Left / Right stick clickButtons 10–11Pressable analogue-stick controls.
D-padButtons 12–15Up, down, left and right.
System / extra buttons16+C, HOME, Capture, GL, GR and other extras are not guaranteed to be exposed or fixed to particular indexes.
Left stickAxes 0–1Horizontal and vertical analogue movement.
Right stickAxes 2–3Horizontal and vertical analogue movement.

Joy-Con 2 vs Switch 2 Pro Controller

Joy-Con 2 and the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller have different physical controls. Joy-Con 2 includes the C Button on the right controller plus mouse and motion hardware. The Switch 2 Pro Controller also includes C and remappable GL/GR buttons. Browser access to these controller-specific features varies.

Joy-Con 2 may appear as separate gamepads, a combined controller or not at all depending on operating-system, driver and browser support. The raw-input panel shows what the browser actually receives.

Switch 2 Browser Test Limitations

The browser Gamepad API exposes buttons, axes and mapping information but does not define fixed Nintendo-specific indexes for C, HOME, Capture, GL or GR. It also does not provide a standard cross-browser Joy-Con 2 mouse-sensor, gyroscope or accelerometer diagnostic.

A successful result confirms only the controller input exposed during the current browser session. Unsupported browser access is not proof of a hardware fault.

What a Good Switch 2 Controller Test Looks Like

Physical controls should activate consistent browser inputs. Analogue sticks should move smoothly and return close to centre when released. If a labelled control appears missing, inspect the raw button indexes before assuming the controller has failed.

Switch 2 Controller Not Working in the Test?

  1. Press a controller button. Some browsers expose gamepads only after user interaction.
  2. Refresh detected controllers. Reconnect or re-pair the controller and scan again.
  3. Check raw button indexes. Non-standard Nintendo mappings can place controls at unexpected indexes.
  4. Try another current browser or device. Browser, operating-system and driver support can differ.

Switch 2 Controller Test Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Nintendo Switch 2 controller test?

A Nintendo Switch 2 controller test checks browser-reported input from a Joy-Con 2, Switch 2 Pro Controller or compatible gamepad, including face buttons, shoulder buttons, D-pad directions and analogue sticks where the Gamepad API exposes them.

Does this test work with Joy-Con 2 controllers?

It can work when the operating system and browser expose Joy-Con 2 through the Gamepad API. Browser support, pairing method and button mapping can vary.

Can I test Joy-Con 2 (L) and Joy-Con 2 (R) separately?

Yes if the browser exposes them as separate gamepads. Use the controller selector to choose whichever Joy-Con 2 appears in the detected-controller list.

Can I test a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller?

Yes when the controller is recognised by the operating system and exposed through the browser. The exact mapping can differ from Joy-Con 2.

Which Switch 2 buttons can this page check?

With a standard positional mapping, the page can check B, A, Y, X, L, R, ZL, ZR, minus, plus, stick clicks and D-pad directions. It also displays extra raw browser button indexes.

Can this page test the C Button?

Only if the browser exposes the C Button as a gamepad button. The standard Gamepad mapping does not define a dedicated Nintendo C Button, so availability and index can vary.

Can this page test the Capture Button?

Only if the browser exposes it. System-level buttons can be reserved or hidden, so the Capture Button is not guaranteed to appear in a webpage.

Can this page test the HOME Button?

Not reliably. Browsers and operating systems can reserve system buttons, so the HOME Button may not be exposed to the Gamepad API.

Can this test check GL and GR on the Switch 2 Pro Controller?

Only if the operating system and browser expose GL and GR as gamepad buttons. Use the raw-button panel to see whether they appear because they do not have fixed standard Gamepad indexes.

Can this test check the Joy-Con 2 mouse sensor?

Not through a standard cross-browser Gamepad API diagnostic. Joy-Con 2 has mouse hardware, but the browser Gamepad mapping does not define a Joy-Con 2 mouse-sensor test.

Can this test check Joy-Con 2 motion controls?

Not as a reliable cross-browser controller diagnostic. Gyroscope and accelerometer data are not part of the standard Gamepad mapping.

Can I test both analogue sticks?

Yes when the selected controller exposes both sticks. The page shows live X and Y values and a visual position indicator for the left and right analogue sticks.

Can this test detect stick drift?

It can reveal visible movement while a stick is untouched, but the dedicated Stick Drift Test is better for a focused centre-movement check.

Why do the A, B, X and Y indexes look different from Xbox?

The standard Gamepad mapping is positional rather than brand-specific. On a Nintendo-style layout, the south button is B, east is A, west is Y and north is X.

Why are my buttons mapped differently?

Joy-Con 2, Switch 2 Pro Controller, drivers and different operating systems may expose non-standard mappings. The raw-button panel shows the exact browser button indexes.

Why does the page say no controller detected?

Pair or connect the controller, press a button, confirm the operating system can see it and refresh the controller list. Some browsers hide gamepads until user interaction.

Do I need a Nintendo Switch 2 console to use this browser test?

The controller needs to be connected or paired to the device running your browser and exposed through the Gamepad API. You do not run this webpage on the Nintendo Switch 2 console itself.

Which browser is best for a Switch 2 controller test?

Use a current browser on a device where the operating system already recognises the controller. Gamepad API support is broad, but Nintendo-specific mapping can vary by browser, operating system and driver.

Does Device Tests upload my controller inputs?

The live button and axis readings used by this tester are processed temporarily in your browser and are not uploaded as controller-input recordings.

Can a successful browser test prove the controller is fault-free?

No. A browser test confirms the inputs exposed during the current session. It cannot inspect every internal switch, sensor, battery, wireless, firmware or intermittent fault.

What should I test next?

Use the Stick Drift Test for unwanted analogue-stick movement, the Controller Deadzone Test for centre thresholds or the Controller Polling Rate Test for browser-visible update frequency.
